Fitter bodies, for fitter minds...

Many of us are taking heed of the current message of ‘Stay at Home, Save lives’. Yes this is very important, however this has lead us towards moving a lot less with spending more time indoors. We might be making more calls by phone or video as we try to keep up with friends, colleagues or family who we cannot meet in person. There maybe more time to binge watch TV or spend it on social media platforms. It’s very tempting to remain on the couch or be seated for long periods during this time.

For our mental wellbeing, we need our bodies need physical activity. Where we can take up exercise outdoors, we need to make sure that we do. When we exert our bodies, it gives it a physiological uplift, maintaining or building our physical strength. The endorphins that we feel after exercising helps us feel good that we have done something good for ourselves. Even moving in the form of stretching is helpful, to alleviate stiffness and tension in areas like the shoulders and hips. We might have to adapt in the way we take exercise, to ensure that we can do it safely and regularly to reap the benefits.

There are so many ways to get your body boogie-ing that’s enjoyable! Your body and mind will thank you for doing so; it is never to late to make a start. What can you do to get your body moving more, so that you are taking your daily exercise?
